Greetings from Woodstock, NY! I am a little late with sending this newsletter as my tour has already started in NYC with an amazing packed show opening for Unheard-Of Ensemble. I met them a few years ago in San Antonio, TX as a participant for their composer workshop. You can listen to the music here, which is very different from what I am composing now and my first foray into writing for a professional ensemble.

I am now hitting the road with my nearest and dearest Frank Meadows and Eli Wallace for a four day tour MAW mini tour kicking off two months of travel throughout the U.S., Canada, South Korea and Japan.

This will be my first Asia tour and I am excited humbly attempt speaking Japanese after an intense four semesters of study at the University of Hawai'i. 日本の友達、挨拶してください . And secondly, the incredible saxophonist, Sunjae Lee, set up some amazing shows for me in Seoul while I am there participating in the International Gugak Workshop. I'll be working closely with local traditional musicians over the course of two weeks learning basic skills of playing gayageum and geomungo and also playing some experimental improvisation concerts with musicians on the scene.

I also found this cute sketch I made 20 years ago of a Japanese boy band, UNBALANCE, that I befriended during a study program in Sapporo. It 20 years almost to the day since I arrived in Sapporo for that exchange program.
